The far-left state of California further embraced neo-paganism this week when Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law allowing the practice of composting dead human beings to better combat climate change.

Citing the high CO2 emissions associated with cremation, the bill will give people the option to give their dead remains over to a process known as natural organic reduction (NOR) should they not want to be buried or cremated.

“The process involves placing the body inside a long, reusable steel container along with wood chips and flowers to aerate it – allowing microbes and bacteria to break down the remains,” according to the Daily Mail. “One month later, the remains will fully decompose and be turned into soil.”

The act of cremation reportedly accounts for 360,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.

California Democrat Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, who authored the bill, praised NOR as a “more environmentally friendly” practice that will give people more options for their desired burial. She wrote:

With climate change and sea-level rise as very real threats to our environment, this is an alternative method of final disposition that won’t contribute emissions into our atmosphere. I look forward to continuing my legacy to fight for clean air by using my reduced remains to plant a tree.

Calif. Marxists to Ban Gas-Powered Cars

(Infowars)  California is set to announce new sweeping regulations banning sales of gasoline-powered cars by 2035, a development leftists are hailing as a victory over “climate change.”

The move will be voted on by California’s Air Resources Board Thursday, and will reportedly establish varying quotas on new car sales for coming years, with a goal of 100% of new vehicles to be electric by 2035.

CNN reports: “Starting with 2026 models, 35% of new cars, SUVs and small pickups sold in California would be required to be zero-emission vehicles. That quota would increase each year, expected to reach 51% of all new car sales in 2028, 68% in 2030 and 100% in 2035. The quotas also would allow 20% of zero-emission cars sold to be plug-in hybrids.”

The New York Times admits California’s imposition of the new rule is important as many other states will follow its lead on emission regulations.

The restrictions are important because not only is California the largest auto market in the United States, but more than a dozen other states typically follow California’s lead when setting their own auto emissions standards.

At least 12 other states could potentially adopt the new California zero-emissions vehicle mandate relatively soon; another five states, which follow California’s broader vehicle pollution reduction program, are expected to adopt the rule in a year or so. If those states follow through, the restrictions on gasoline-vehicle sales would apply to about one-third of the United States’ auto market.

If passed, the new regulations would come on the heels of Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which dedicates $370 billion for electric vehicle tax credits, charging stations and investment in new “clean energy” initiatives.

It’s as yet unclear how cars being charged using electricity produced by coal-burning and nuclear power plants would decrease carbon emitted in the state, but that’s not a question being asked or addressed by so-called climate experts.

(Independent)  The Democrat governor of California signed a gun control law on Friday modeled on a controversial Texas abortion rule, which allows private citizens to sue each other for breaking firearms law and collect financial rewards.

“We’re sick and tired of being on the defence in this movement,” said governor Gavin Newsom on Friday, speaking from Santa Monica College.

“It’s time to put them on the defence,” Mr Newsom continued. “You cannot sell, you cannot manufacture, you cannot transfer these illegal weapons of war and mass destruction in the state of California. And if you do, there are 40 million people that can collect $10,000 from you, and attorney fees, for engaging in that illegal activity.”

The bill allows private individuals to sue those who illegally sell assault weapons, gun parts, “ghost guns” without serial numbers, or high-power .50-caliber rifles, and collect a $10,000 payout and legal fees if successful.

(CBS News)  About 23 million California residents will soon receive "inflation relief" checks of up to $1,050 under a budget deal reached by Governor Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers on Sunday. 

The checks are part of a $17 billion relief package that will also suspend the state's sales tax on diesel fuel and provide additional aid to help people with rent and utility bills, Newsom and Senate President Pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon said in a statement. 

The agreement comes as California drivers face the highest gasoline prices in the U.S., with the average price for a gallon of gas in the state at $6.32 on Monday — or about 29% higher than the national average. 

Earlier this year, Newsom had proposed sending stimulus checks of $400 per vehicle to state residents, with a cap of two vehicles. But other lawmakers had pushed for a plan that would provide bigger checks to people who earn less.

(Reuters) - California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday warned he would order strict cutbacks on water usage statewide if businesses and residents did not slash their own consumption in the face of a severe drought.

Newsom issued the ultimatum during a meeting a meeting with California's largest water agencies ahead of what experts worry could be another hot, dry summer on the heels of more than three years of drought.

"Every water agency across the state needs to take more aggressive actions to communicate about the drought emergency and implement conservation measures,” Newsom said, according to a transcript of his remarks issued by his office.

Already the Metropolitan Water District in Southern California has ordered residents of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties to water lawns and gardens no more than twice a week.

The agency said it would fine residents $2,000 if they are caught watering lawns too often.
