THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CALIFORNIA - This site is dedicated to exposing the continuing Marxist Revolution in California and the all around massive stupidity of Socialists, Luddites, Communists, Fellow Travelers and of Liberalism in all of its ugly forms.

"It was a splendid population - for all the slow, sleepy, sluggish-brained sloths stayed at home - you never find that sort of people among pioneers - you cannot build pioneers out of that sort of material. It was that population that gave to California a name for getting up astounding enterprises and rushing them through with a magnificent dash and daring and a recklessness of cost or consequences, which she bears unto this day - and when she projects a new surprise the grave world smiles as usual and says, "Well, that is California all over."

CORRUPT - $1.25 billion in high-speed rail bonds sold

"Corruptus in Extremis"

  • Corrupt Democrats drive the state deeper in debt to build a train no one will ride. (You can drive faster to San Francisco than this train will run.)
  • Corrupt Republicans refused to rock the pig's trough of spending by putting an initiative on the ballot to kill the bullet train. With no issue to run on Republicans lost seats in 2016 giving Democrats a super majority in the legislature.

(AP) — California's state treasurer says ongoing legal challenges didn't harm the sale of nearly $1.25 billion in high-speed rail bonds.
Spokesman Marc Lifsher says all the bonds were claimed Thursday and treasury officials are happy with the results.
He says there was wide participation by different sectors of the bond-buying market. The sale produced yields that would be expected under current market conditions.
The sale was broken into three offerings, with yields as high as about 2.4 percent and maturity dates as distant as 2047.
A Sacramento County judge is to rule next week on whether the California High Speed Rail Authority can now spend the bond money.
The lawsuit challenges legislation that opponents say goes beyond what California voters allowed when they approved nearly $10 billion in bonds in 2008.

Amtrak rail lines in California.
Nothing to Steal
An intelligent person would simply connect the Amtrak line that dead ends in San Luis Obispo with the Amtrak line at San Jose.  For a tiny fraction of the cost of the insane "high speed" rail fraud most of the state from Mexico to Sacramento would be connected by rail.
Instead countless billions will be pissed away as payback to the businesses and unions that fund the campaigns of the Sacramento hacks.  All the special interests have their snouts in the trough of corruption.

Simply connect San Jose and San Luis Obispo and you have a statewide rail system.  But easy and cheap are words the liar politicians have never heard.

Ventura most closely matches California elections

And so goes California

  • The interesting thing to me is how the rather wealthy middle class of California has completely abandoned the GOP.
  • Solid middle class areas all over the state from Sacramento to Ventura, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Glendale and San Diego have thrown the GOP overboard and elected Democrats to the state legislature and to Congress.
  • The super rich in the Bay Area & Los Angeles vote Democrat. The poor districts vote Democrat. If the GOP can't even manage to appeal to middle class voters then the party is over.

(Sacramento Bee)  -  Pollsters and campaign consultants trying to discern California’s true bellwether for political proclivities may want to look no further than Ventura.
In last November’s election, the city of 108,000 was one of five where voters matched the preferences of California as a whole for all 19 statewide contests – president, U.S. Senate, and 17 ballot measures, according to the California Secretary of State’s recently released supplement to the statement of vote.
Moreover, Ventura’s vote totals differed from the statewide numbers by less than 1.4 percentage points per statewide contest on average.
In the campaign for Proposition 53, which sought to require a public vote on revenue bonds of $2 billion or more, 50.8 percent of Ventura voters voted no, just 0.2 percentage points more than the 50.6 percent overall no vote. For Proposition 55, which extended higher income taxes on wealthy filers, 63.6 percent of Ventura voters backed it, slightly above the initiative’s 63.3 percent approval statewide.
The largest disparity came in the race for president, where 58.3 percent of Ventura voters supported Democrat Hillary Clinton. Clinton carried California with 61.7 percent of the vote, 3.4 percentage points more. About 34.6 percent of city voters preferred Republican Donald Trump, roughly 3 percentage points above his statewide total.
Pleasanton, Monrovia, Martinez and La Mesa were also 19-for-19 on the November ballot measures, with 16 other cities 18-for-19 and 43 cities 17-for-19.
Besides Ventura, the cities with vote percentages most in line with statewide tallies were Monrovia, Gilroy, La Mesa and West Sacramento.
For a microcosm of non-California, on the other hand, head to Taft. Voters in the Kern County city of 9,500 duplicated the statewide outcome on just seven contests. And when it came to total percentage point disparity, voters in Berkeley strayed a whopping 448.4 percentage points from the 19 statewide tallies.

California and Scotland join forces to fight climate change

Retard Alert

  • Idiot California Democrats obsess over global "climate change" rather than deal with meaningful state issues.
  • Meanwhile Dems release tens of thousands of criminals from prisons, allow dams to fall apart, fund a corrupt high speed rail no one will use and make California a sanctuary state for illegal alien law breakers.

(CNBC)  -  The Government of California and the Scottish Government have signed a joint agreement which sees them commit to work with one another to fight climate change.
The agreement was signed on Monday by Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and the Governor of California Edmund G Brown.

Among other things, the memorandum of understanding states both California and Scotland are looking to "capitalise on the huge potential of the Under2 MoU, the ambitious commitment to bold and decisive climate action covering over one billion people and over a third of the global economy to which both jurisdictions are signatories."

Signatories to the Under2 MoU agreement have committed to either cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 to 95 percent below 1990 levels or to limit emissions to less than two metric tons per capita by mid-century.

"Scotland is making huge progress in delivering our climate change ambitions, but we are not complacent and there is still much to achieve," Sturgeon said.
"Today's meeting strengthened our relationship with the Government of California and I'm confident we can work together to achieve the targets set out by the Under2 MoU," she added.
For its part, California has ambitious plans when it comes to renewable energy and climate change.
