School District Pays Children $1,400 To Become ‘Racial And Social Justice Warriors’

The Long Beach Unified School district in California is funneling money to a progressive activist group which is paying students $1,400 each to become racial and social justice warriors.
The district paid $900,000 for a one-year contract to Californians for Justice (CFJ), a “youth-powered” non-profit that pushes racial justice ideology on children, the Free Press reports.
Of that, $60,200 was allocated to pay 33 students and 10 families or parents $1,400 each to participate in CFJ’s training programs.
According to the contract, the program exists to “provide assistance to teachers, administrators and selected students in building strategies to support cultural understanding and change.”
On CFJ’s website, the group claims to have “trained hundreds of youth of color in Long Beach to be community leaders and organizers,” adding that it “provides leadership development opportunities throughout the school year and summer to ensure our youth leaders gain the political education and valuable organizing skills they need to lead social justice movements.”
“It’s so fun! You get paid good, you can have a fun time,” one of the students posted recently to Instagram.
A spokesman for the Long Beach School District framed the paid program as “internships” which are to ensure “equitable participation in CFJ programs, embracing diverse perspectives in education.” Quite diversity word salad there.

Democrats want to empty L.A. jails to atone for "racism"

Los Angeles County Supervisors Hilda Solis and Lindsey Horvath have proposed a plan to “depopulate and decarcerate” county jails, releasing criminals to address what they call a “systemic racism” in criminal justice.
Solis, a former Democratic congresswoman and Secretary of Labor under President Barack Obama, and Horvath, a former mayor of West Hollywood who tried to bar President Donald Trump from the city, have proposed the plan, which will be voted on at the next Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.
The plan states: “To depopulate and decarcerate is a monumental task, and the Board is committed to redress historical wrongs, deeply rooted in systemic racism and prejudice, and reverse status quo responses to poverty, mental health and medical needs, and substance use dependencies.” It calls for the Supervisors to declare a “humanitarian crisis” and to take steps to reduce the population of inmates through various kinds of releases.
Supervisor Kathryn Barger is the only Republican member of the board and is opposed to the new plan.

Do I Regret Leaving California?
A lot of people are moving back to California after leaving. I left and it’s been a few months since. I share what I regret about leaving as well as all the things I don’t regret.
The traffic and the prices have gotten worse. The food isn’t great. The only thing it has going for it is the weather and the mary jane.
I choose to leave the city for a slow living lifestyle in a small town in Arizona.
Best decision I ever made.

POLICE STATE - Cops collect social media information on every civilian
(ZeroHedge) - Los Angeles police officers have been directed to collect social media information on every civilian they interview, including people who haven't been arrested or accused of a crime, according to the Guardian, citing leaked records.
According to the report, "field interview cards" used by LAPD officers contain instructions to record a civilian's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and any other social media accounts - along with basic biographical information.
Chief Michael Moore has reportedly told cops to collect the data for use in "investigations, arrests, and prosecutions," and has warned officers that the cards will be audited by supervisors to ensure they're filled out completely.
"There are real dangers about police having all of this social media identifying information at their fingertips," said Rachel Levinson-Waldman, a deputy director at the Brennan Center for Justice, which obtained the documents.
The Brennan Center conducted a review of 40 other police agencies in the US and was unable to find another department that required social media collection on interview cards (though many have not publicly disclosed copies of the cards). The organization also obtained records about the LAPD’s social media surveillance technologies, which have raised questions about the monitoring of activist groups including Black Lives Matter. -Guardian

During a portion of a statement on the county reinstituting its mask mandate broadcast on LA’s KNBC on Thursday, Los Angeles County Health Officer Dr. Muntu Davis stated that requiring everyone, regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated to wear a mask indoors is “much easier and universal and makes this a normal practice again,” and will hopefully lead to lower coronavirus numbers.
Davis said, “Our hope is that, with continued vaccination of people, as well as with masking by everyone indoors, which is much easier and universal and makes this a normal practice again, that we won’t see continued increases in the cases and we’ll start to start to see lower numbers.”

(Zerohedge) World-renowned Venice Beach has long been a place where visitors, residents, and business owners commingled with artists, musicians, and entertainers from all over the country.
Over 10 million tourists visit the beach’s famous boardwalk each year, drawn in by the ocean view and the unconventional lifestyle of the city’s eccentric community.
But the famed destination no longer circulates in headlines for its wacky tourist attractions or local eateries. Instead, the beach town has become known worldwide for its flourishing homeless encampments, burgeoning filth, skyrocketing crime rate, and increasingly violent transients.
As city officials dawdle, the beachside town is falling to ruin, residents say, overwhelmed by the homeless that are making their lives a living hell.
Their cries for help have gone largely unheeded—until now. Earlier this week, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva announced a July 4th sweep that aims to clean up the mess.
For residents who have been trying to get local officials to act for months, the action can’t come soon enough.
During a recent trip to Venice, Villanueva said the tents need to be cleared by Independence Day, after reports of crime, arson, and filth went unaddressed for months. He blames elected leaders for not handling the issue.
“When I was out there in Venice, I talked to a shop owner, and he was fit to be tied,” Villanueva told The Epoch Times.
“He’s tired of politicians, tired of people in the city doing nothing. And it’s impacting his ability for customers to come in, [with] the cost of people trying to break into his business and people causing scenes, fights, [and] outside fires. It’s like a third-world country.”
But not all locals approve of the sweep. Some activists quickly criticized the move on social media. “Why is this @LASDHQ dressed like this to do outreach? Why do they have guns?” the People’s City Council asked on Twitter.
For some residents, the uptick in recent violent attacks by the homeless on workers, residents, and the elderly are justification enough.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education approved a plan Tuesday to cut one-third of the Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) force and use the funds to help improve black student achievement.
The cuts came last year after activists protested to “abolish” or “defund” the school police department, which protects students from crime — particularly in predominantly black and Latino areas of the city, where there is more gang activity.
Now the plan has been approved, the Times reported Tuesday:
In a major overhaul of the Los Angeles School Police Department, the Board of Education on Tuesday approved a plan that cuts a third of its officers, bans the use of pepper spray on students and diverts funds from the department to improve the education of Black students.

The police overhaul by the Los Angeles Unified School District provides funding for school “climate coaches” who will work to promote positive school culture and address implicit bias at every secondary school. Staff to support and an achievement plan for Black students will also be added.

The approved plan will cut 133 positions: 70 sworn officers, 62 non-sworn officers and 1 support staff member. At the meeting, Chief Leslie Ramirez said the reduction would leave the force with 211 officers.
One school board member, George Mckenna, was quoted by the Times as saying: “The parents expect us to have safe schools. And if you think the police are the problem, I think you got a problem yourself.”
However, he was one of few who dissented.

Pabst Blue Ribbon flees California for Texas

SAN ANTONIO – Pabst Blue Ribbon has chosen downtown San Antonio over busy Los Angeles for its headquarters.
The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF) confirmed Thursday PBR is moving its headquarters from LA to its Houston Street location.
PBR has operated in San Antonio for years, with about 60 or so employees, according to the SAEDF.
The headquarters are looking to hire up to 25 extra employees in the next few months and is expected to have more than 115 once fully staffed.
Currently, we’re told the company is in the Rand Building and is hiring.
The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation provided us with the following statement.
“San Antonio is ideal for headquarters. We have a culture and economy where professionals have a unique opportunity to build wealth and actually enjoy it, making San Antonio a very attractive city to live in. (NBC) - Mirroring an action previously announced by Los Angeles County, Mayor Eric Garcetti Wednesday all Los Angeles city parks will be closed Saturday evening into Monday to prevent people from gathering on Easter.
Garcetti said park rangers and Los Angeles Police Department officers will be at the parks to ensure the orders are followed as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
"I know that your heart breaks like so many of the things that we have had to do," Garcetti said. "This is such a fun moment for our kids.
Garcetti said the residents of the city are doing very well in trying to flatten the curve and weather the virus, but it's not time to backpedal.

That’s right, surfing is now a crime in the Golden State and if you dare venture into the surf, you could be arrested!
Footage out of Malibu shows two boats, a drone and multiple officers on foot combine forces to arrest a sole surfer enjoying the empty beach.
These heroic government agents should sleep well at night knowing they helped stop COVID-19 from wreaking havoc on the Democrat-run territory.
A local man caught the pursuit on camera and provided hilarious commentary as lifeguards and sheriff’s deputies closed in on the aquatic rebel.
See the criminal being brought to justice below and don’t forget, while he’s getting charged, California Governor Gavin Newsom is freeing violent murderers.
According to KTLA 5, the man was arrested “on suspicion of disobeying a lifeguard and violating Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay at home order, a misdemeanor.”
Those who defy the “stay-at-home” order face a $1,000 fine, up to six months in jail or both.
Last week, another Los Angeles County surfer was issued a citation after he allegedly ignored a lifeguard who asked him not to enter the ocean and said, “Go ahead and arrest me.”
The lifeguard then called the police on the man.
According to the lifeguard, when he got to the beach that morning there were 150 surfers in the water and dozens of bikers and joggers in the trails nearby.
“Local surfers know lifeguards can’t issue citations. So when we told them not to go in the water they ignored us. When we told people on The Strand to leave, they pointed to the surfers and they ignored us,” he said. “People didn’t comply until the police arrived and ordered the water, beach and The Strand cleared over their bullhorns. Then, everyone, including the surfers left.”
The surfer who was cited by police arrived after the snitch lifeguard had already got police to clear the beach.

(Fox) - Los Angeles officially declared itself a “sanctuary city” Friday against the backdrop of the Trump administration’s tough policies aimed at illegal immigrants.
"We declare, for all those who have been under attack in this Trump era, that this city, in this day, in this time, will be a city of sanctuary," City Councilman Gilbert Cedillo said. "It will be a place where people will know that they will be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin, and not by who they choose to love, and not by when they got here. They will be judged by their contributions to our city."
The City Council voted 12-2 to approve the non-binding resolution nearly a year and a half after it was first proposed. Other cities like have adopted their own sanctuary city policies.
Friday's resolution declares Los Angeles to be a “City of Sanctuary, protecting the human rights of all our residents.”
Some immigrants-rights advocates however, said the vote came too late.
“They missed the opportunity to do this when it really mattered — back when the immigrant community of Los Angeles needed to know where its city stood,” Hector Villagra, executive director of the ACLU of Southern California, told the Los Angeles Times.

(San Francisco Chronicle) - Under the threat of becoming the first lawmaker to be expelled from the state Senate in more than 100 years, Democrat Sen. Tony Mendoza resigned Thursday after a Senate investigation found that he had engaged in unwanted sexual advances toward subordinate female staffers over the past 12 years.
In a letter to his fellow senators, Mendoza said he stepped down because he refused to participate “in the farcical investigation” pushed by his former roommate Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles. He accused de León, who’s challenging U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein in the November election, of seeking his removal to score political points with the #MeToo movement.
Mendoza, a Democrat from Artesia (Los Angeles County), is the third legislator to resign in three months following accusations of sexual harassment.
The former elementary school teacher had been on paid leave since Jan. 3 during a sexual harassment investigation that found he “more likely than not” engaged in unwanted sexual advances toward subordinate female staffers over the past 12 years. His resignation takes effect immediately.
“It’s my duty as president of this body to say that we owe every employee that basic guarantee that we as an institution will not tolerate harassment nor sweep it under the rug when it is discovered,” de León said from the Senate floor.
