THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CALIFORNIA - This site is dedicated to exposing the continuing Marxist Revolution in California and the all around massive stupidity of Socialists, Luddites, Communists, Fellow Travelers and of Liberalism in all of its ugly forms.

"It was a splendid population - for all the slow, sleepy, sluggish-brained sloths stayed at home - you never find that sort of people among pioneers - you cannot build pioneers out of that sort of material. It was that population that gave to California a name for getting up astounding enterprises and rushing them through with a magnificent dash and daring and a recklessness of cost or consequences, which she bears unto this day - and when she projects a new surprise the grave world smiles as usual and says, "Well, that is California all over."

Moron Alert - Jerry Brown Speaks

Idiot Alert.
Comrade Governor Jerry Brown is happy that it takes 30 years to get things done under Democratic Socialism.  That way it gives him something to do.  This dip cannot get the things done that he proposed  from his first term as Governor back in the 1970s.

Socialism in Action  -  In a state of Socialist idiots you get the government you vote for

  • With 11% unemployment in the People's Republic, Brown is happy it takes 30 years to work on projects.

Asked by Bob Schieffer on the CBS public affairs show "Face the Nation" for any advice he might have for politicians, Brown said, "I've learned you don't get things done overnight. It does take time."

MORON  ALERT   -   Says Brown, "Things that I was talking about 30 years ago - pension reform, renewable energy, completing the California water plan, high-speed rail, they're right at the top of the agenda today. So what do I say? Hey, you've got to take 30 years to get it done, because you can't get it done overnight."

This one takes the cake  -  Comrade Governor Brown goes on, "It looks like things take longer, and now I'm kind of glad they do, because I still have something to do."

What a God Damn fucking moron.  People are in pain.  Massive unemployment, home foreclosures, jobs leaving the state and more.

But the real morons are the drooling, mouth-breathing Socialist voters of California who keep voting for this parade of idiots.

Bullet Train Flunkies Lied to the Voters

Liar - Liar  -  Bullet train losses will run up to $9 billion annually

  • Voters were lied to about the costs and ridership.
  • The rail authority claims it can operate system at a cost of about 10 cents per passenger mile, less than one-fourth of the 40 cents to 50 cents it costs high speed rail operators in other countries.
  • Insane Democrats want to bankrupt the state with endless spending.

The stupid bullet train started off as a bi-partisan big government spending wet-dream, but as the voters wised up GOP train supporters have gone to ground or pretend to oppose it.  In any case, the train is now fully in the lap of the Democrats.
                                                                     .
The morons and liars at the state rail authority have grossly underestimated future operating costs of California's proposed bullet train, meaning taxpayers potentially will have to provide billions of dollars annually once the system is running, according to an analysis released Monday by a group of outside financial experts.
.

The California High Speed Rail Authority's claim that its future system would generate hundreds of millions of dollars in surpluses is based on unrealistic assumptions (lies) about what it will cost to operate the network, according to the study group, which included former World Bank official William Grindley and Stanford University management professor Alain C. Enthoven says the Los Angeles Times.
                                                           .
The rail authority claims it can operate the 510-mile system at a cost of about 10 cents per passenger mile, less than one-fourth of the 40 cents to 50 cents it costs high speed rail operators in other countries, the analysis found. If California's bullet train operating costs rise to the international average, losses will range from $2 billion to $9 billion annually, according to the report.
.
"We are confounded by where the authority is getting its operating costs," Grindley said.

                                                          .
The group, which also includes Silicon Valley executives William Warren and Alan Bushell, has written a series of financial assessments of the bullet train plan that sharply question its economics. The four experts are affiliated with the Community Coalition on High Speed Rail, located in the Bay Area.

(Los Angeles Times)

California already has existing passenger rail service all over the state.  But the Big Government spenders will never be happy until California is bankrupt.

Modern Technology  -  What a Concept!
Why on earth would anyone take a so-called "high-speed" train from San Diego to San Francisco?  For only a few dollars they can jump on a plane and fly.  The only reason to build a high speed rail system is to line the pockets of businessmen and hire tons of union workers who both bankroll the political liars in Sacramento.

Bullet Train Insanity - Move the 99 Freeway

Your Tax Dollars at Work
Insanity  -  Move the entire 99 Freeway 100 feet for a train no one will ride

  • Bi-partisan stupidity on a grand scale.
  • Republican businessmen and Democratic labor unions alike are lining up to suck at the teat of the bullet train.

Relocating a two-mile stretch of Highway 99 in west-central Fresno will be no easy feat in the proposed development of a high-speed train line through the city.
                                      .
The rail authority's plans call for shoving the freeway westward by 100 feet or so -- onto property now occupied by a string of businesses. They include a pair of mini-storage companies, several motels, a mobile-home park, an RV dealership, a truck stop and an assisted-living facility reports the Fresno Bee.
.
It's also not known yet how much the highway relocation will cost.  The cost, she added, is included in the overall estimate of $1.5 billion to $2 billion for the construction work through Fresno.

That's why the California High-Speed Rail Authority will look to the state's highway department to handle the work instead of contractors who would build the first section of the state's high-speed rail project in Fresno.
The California Department of Transportation will be responsible for moving Highway 99 between Ashlan and Clinton avenues.
.
"Caltrans is working diligently toward an interagency agreement with the High-Speed Rail Authority to identify the scope, cost and timing of the Highway 99 realignment project in Fresno," the agency said in a statement.
                                                .
A 29-mile segment of the line from east of Madera to the south end of Fresno is proposed to be the first stretch built on what would ultimately extend to a 520-mile system of trains connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco through the San Joaquin Valley.
                           .
The authority believes construction on the section could start late this year or early next year and be completed in 2016.

California already has AMTRAK.
There are already trains serving California for those who want them.  For even faster travel something called the airplane has been invented.  Other people drive their very own personal transportation pods down freeways.  But no.  Big Government is only happy when it can flush countless billions down the toilet in giant make-work projects that will employ union workers who shovel money into the treasury of the Democratic Party..

George Lucas: Why California does not work

George Lucas is closing up shop in Marin County, California.
The business climate is shipping jobs out of the state.

George Lucas and the jobs he creates are leaving

  • Lucas will no longer build a film studio.
  • Will he leave the state for Texas, Florida or even New Zealand?
  • The Socialist Democrats in Sacramento are clueless.

A top Lucasfilm official says it is "too late" for George Lucas to reconsider his decision to pull the plug on plans for Grady Ranch.
                                 .
Lynne Hale, director of communications for Lucasfilm, said that while the firm appreciates the unprecedented outpouring of public support for the company triggered by news the filmmaker was scuttling a film studio project at the ranch, there's no turning back now.
                                                                  .
"We have to move on," she told the Marin Independent Journal.

Hale underscored her point: "You asked if Lucasfilm would reconsider. Unfortunately the answer is no. We truly appreciate the outpouring of support over the last 24 hours but based on our experience we realize that even with the support of the majority, the minority has the ability to drag the process out to the point it makes it impossible to do business."
.
A last-minute bid by state and federal fisheries and water agencies for more review of a unique creek restoration project, and bitter opposition from Lucas Valley Estate residents including developer and next-door neighbor Thomas Monahan, posed more delay and potential lawsuits, prompting Lucas to bail out after spending millions and years pursuing the plan. The creek project promised to be a model watershed restoration program — one far too expensive for public agencies to finance.
                                                                       .
As Lucas executives said they would sell the land for housing development and build the studio elsewhere, a raucous conversation raged online across Marin as residents chimed in, many expressing support for Lucas and contempt for neighborhood foes.

Jobs are leaving the People's Republic of California.

The Mega Hit movie "Fast & Furious 5" was filmed in Brazil and Puerto Rico.  The Socialists in the California legislature fail to understand how high taxes are forcing the jobs in the movie industry to leave the state.

They also fail to understand a simple fact.  With all the nations of the world to chose from, what  businessmen would open up a new business in high tax - high regulation California?

The game show "Family Feud" moved to Atlanta, Georgia.

Democrat Party: "The unemployed can go to Hell"

Moonbeam Jerry Brown  -  Fighting for illegals, not American citizens.

Democrat Governor Brown:  'Unemployed American citizens can go to Hell.'

  • Democrats insist illegal aliens MUST be protected while millions of American citizens and their children go unemployed.
  • And idiot, mouth-breathing unemployed Americans of all skin colors and ethnic groups line up to vote for the very Socialist Democrats who just fucked them over.

In an interview with KGO-AM radio host Ron Owens, Comrade Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown of the People's Republic said illegal aliens play an important role in our economy.

Said Comrade Brown:   "If 2,000,000 undocumented (illegal) people were rounded up tomorrow and put on buses and sent to the foreign countries from which they came, there would be a massive drop in economic activity. . . . Most of them are doing a hell of a lot of work."

The Big Lie   -   If you tell a big lie often enough the millions of simple minded voters (mostly Democrats) will believe it.

First of all, all the illegal aliens would not leave California in one day.  The change would be a gradual one.

Second, the illegals leaving would cause an economic boom!

  • Every working illegal alien that leaves California would create a job opening for American citizens of Black, Hispanic, Asian or European heritage.  Unemployment would drop like a rock.
  • Many jobs that employ illegals pay under the table.  Those jobs would still need to be done.  These new legal on-the-books jobs would flood the empty state treasury with new tax money.
  • As illegals leave the hundreds of millions the government spends on "free" education, "free" welfare, "free" food, "free" rent and "free" medical care would end.

There is one draw back to illegals leaving California.  Those American citizens with brand new jobs and increased wealth might not look to a Socialist Democratic Party as their father and provider.

Those newly employed voters might even start to think for themselves. . . . and that is why Democrats will protect and defend every illegal in California and the nation.

Bill requires warrant to track cell phones

SHOCK  -  A Democrat introduces a bill to protect us from
a 1984 Big Brother police state.

GOP is Invisible   -   A Democrat's bill requires a search warrant for the government to spy on your cell phone

  • GOP legislators are nowhere to be found on enforcing the Bill of Rights.
  • Time will tell if this will pass the legislature.

This sticks in my throat . . . . I hate to say it . . . . but three cheers to California Democrat Senator Mark Leno for standing up for the 4th Amendment to the Bill of Rights and sticking it to the rise of a Big Brother state.  I have to be honest and must give Leno credit when credit is due.
.
Leno introduced a bill to prohibit government entities from obtaining location information from cellphones without a warrant.  The normally crazy State Senator Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) proposed SB 1434, an amendment to the Penal Code, to clarify the use of this ubiquitous and near-constant data stream in our pockets.
                                                              .
“Unfortunately, California’s privacy laws have not kept up with the electronic age, and government agencies are frequently accessing this sensitive information without adequate oversight,” he said in a prepared statement.

Protect the Bill of Rights.

Where is the Republican Party?  -  The GOP is vaguely aware that real people exist in California and that many of us are concerned about the Bill of Rights and Big Brother.

This bill protecting the Bill of Rights should have been authored and sponsored by every single Republican in the legislature.  But Republicans appear to have no interest in the Constitution or even getting a good campaign issue at election time.

Indeed, the GOP is a party of idiots.

The American Civil Liberties Union did an audit of the policies and practices of law enforcement agencies around the country. The organization found that, for the majority of those that participated, it's not uncommon for cellphones to be virtually tailed using either the phone's own GPS or cellular triangulation without obtaining a warrant or subpoena reports the L.A. Times.

The U.S. Supreme Court has weighed in on warrantless searches using GPS technology more generally In United States vs. Jones. The justices held that law enforcement was essentially trespassing on private property by installing a device to track movements.

The cellphone is more pervasive, with its significant penetration in today's society. Reidenberg said that using cellphones for tracking "enables others to learn systematically everywhere I go every time I step out of my door." This takes activity in public that "may become something that's private" -- a pattern of behavior.

SB 1434 also aims to protect against long-term monitoring by limiting search warrants to a time frame no longer than is necessary and not exceeding 30 days.

State Senator Mark Leno

Leno bill backs religious freedom

Part II   -   Republicans missing in action again.

Senator Mark Leno introduced legislation that clarifies the religious freedom of clergy members in California. Senate Bill 1140 reaffirms the separation of church and state and clarifies under state law that no member of clergy will be required to perform a marriage that is contrary to his or her faith. SB 1140 also protects churches from losing their tax-exempt status if they refuse to perform a marriage that is contrary to their faith. The bill is sponsored by Equality California and California Council of Churches IMPACT.
“With the recent appellate court decision on Proposition 8, we know that it is only a matter of time before same-sex couples in California will again have the freedom to marry,” said Senator Leno, D-San Francisco. “Under SB 1140, churches and clergy members who fear their religious views are threatened by allowing marriage for same-sex couples will have clear and solid protections under state law. Similarly, churches that welcome same-sex couples will be able to fully recognize those families within their faith.”

One would think Republicans would have some small interest in religious freedom.  But again they left it to Leno to take action and get the credit with voters on election day.
                                         .

.
The leaders of the California Republican Party.
No wonder Republicans have been a minority in the state legislature for almost all of the last 60 years.  These fools would not know a good campaign issue if it bit them on the ass.

Felons given "free" taxpayer funded housing

Hard work  -  Now illegal in the People's Republic.
In the "olden days" convicts had to pay back society for their crimes with hard work such as building roads or firebreaks in the mountains.  Today they sit on the asses in prison doing nothing and then get "free" taxpayer subsidized housing when they are released.  A liberal's wet-dream come true.

Democrats vote to move released convicted felons ahead of law abiding citizens for "free" taxpayer subsidized housing

  • A Socialist liberal wet-dream come true.
  • Remember, always bow down and worship your Liberal Puppetmasters.

The insanity of the People's Republic of California never ends.

The touchy-feely Democrat controlled Los Angeles Board of Supervisors voted to move supposedly "homeless" released convicted felons to the head of the line so they can get free taxpayer subsidized housing ahead of those who obey the law.

There was no word from the Commie scum Supervisors about what the victims of these criminals felt about having to pay taxes to fund free housing for felons.  But liberals and Socialists never give a flying fuck about the taxpayers.

The change would give ex-prisoners priority over thousands of non-offenders who are awaiting government housing assistance, officials  said.  The new plan waives a long-standing ban on homeless probationers and parolees obtaining housing subsidies reports the L.A. Times.

"With a waiting list in the thousands for Section 8 vouchers, it is irresponsible for convicted felons to leap ahead of law-abiding citizens who have patiently waited years for housing," said Republican Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the sole opponent to the housing agency's plan. "This deplorable policy sends the wrong message — commit a crime, receive Section 8 housing."

The housing authority has 22,000 vouchers under the Section 8 program.  Housing officials confirmed that if a parolee or probationer received one of the specially set-aside vouchers they could "jump the line" ahead of   those who obey the law in the general population who are waiting.

Lancaster officials are among those who have criticized the county's approval of the revised housing authority plan.

"I am absolutely appalled and disgusted that the Board of Supervisors would allow felons to cut the line for Section 8 housing benefits," Lancaster Republican Mayor R. Rex Parris said. "People who have played by the rules, led a clean life and have waited years to qualify for Section 8 housing now have to wait until criminals who are just out of prison take these valuable government-subsidized vouchers."
                                                      .

IDIOT ALERT - Farmer's Field in Los Angeles

This is why California does not work.
An insane 10,000 page environmental impact report that took two years to make.

Farmer's Field  -  A Bureaucrat's Wet-Dream Come True!

  • Endless government created delays while millions are unemployed.
  • A "touchy-feely" Green sports stadium where developers claim people will walk, bike or take the bus to the games.  (It is hard to stop laughing.)
  • If you obey your Big Government Masters and take approved "Green Mass Transit" to games you will be given first crack at tickets.
  • Fan tailgate parties are banned  -  Non-Government/Big Developer approved pleasure is not allowed.  You will only be allowed to eat in "approved" corporate restaurants.

The proposed Farmer's Field Stadium is an example of why California is totally screwed up.

While millions are unemployed there are endless delays by government at every possible level, moronic 10,000 page environmental impact reports, labor union input, and idiotic "green" transit proposals.  All of it for a stadium that will host but a tiny, tiny number of NFL games.  No wonder businesses choose to move to Texas.

A group seeking to bring the NFL back to Los Angeles unveiled a massive environmental plan Thursday, laying out ways to deal with the traffic nightmare that throngs of fans could create around the proposed $1.4 billion downtown stadium on game days.

Required under a state agreement to make the planned 72,000-seat Farmer's Field environmentally friendly, Anschutz Entertainment Group said it will spend about $35 million to reduce the traffic footprint by, among other things, expanding the nearby U.S. 101 freeway and a commuter train station.

The environmental impact report has a goal of having 25 percent of fans use alternative transportation, with 5,000 people estimated to walk or bike to games reports Business Week.

"We have to change people's habits from the day they buy their first ticket," AEG President Tim Leiweke said at a City Hall news conference.

Leiweke stressed the stadium's green credentials in unveiling the 10,000-page document, which is a key step in returning professional football to Los Angeles for the first time since 1994. Leiweke said he hopes the stadium will be ready in time for the 2017 season and added that if an NFL team arrives before the stadium is ready, it can use temporary venues such as the Rose Bowl in Pasadena or the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The report, which took two years to complete, is a milestone on the way to luring back a team to Los Angeles, which lost both the Raiders and Rams in 1994. After a 45-day public comment period, the report goes to the City Council. It also could face legal challenges but Leiweke praised the completion the $27 million report, which he called "the world's most expensive piece of paper."

"In terms of football, we are now in the offensive zone, not the defensive zone," Leiweke said at the news conference where he was surrounded by helmeted construction workers, janitors and other union laborers who back the stadium.

Leiweke said he was confident that the mitigation plans could deal with the upsurge and even the crush from a Super Bowl, noting that 365,000 people currently travel in and out of downtown every day.

"We can do that on a Sunday for 68,000 people," he said. "We can do this. We just have to teach people and reward them for using mass transportation."

One idea would be to give mass transit users first crack at tickets, he said.
                                            .
(Business Week)

Tailgate parties are banned.
You must pony up taxpayer cash to help fund the stadium, but it will be a cold day in Hell before you are allowed to cook and eat your own hamburger.

A swap meet could set up here.
Some $1.4 billion seems a bit pricey for an NFL stadium that would host a tiny handful of games in the fall and winter.  Maybe during the rest of the year the stadium could be leased out for swap meets, farmer's markets and Little League games.

Do Republicans want to win elections?

Comrade Obama has handed the GOP an oil industry jobs and taxes issue on a
silver platter and the GOP is too fucking stupid to act.

Does California have an opposition party?  -  No

  • The dysfunctional Republican Party does not know what it believes in.
  • Voters are given a choice between Red Flag waving Socialism and a me-too, half-a-loaf Socialist party.

Judging by the actions of the California GOP we do not have an opposition party in the state.  Republicans are clueless about oil, jobs and taxes.  Comrade Obama and Dear Leader Jerry Brown have handed the GOP the issues of gas prices and new jobs in the oil industry and the GOP does nothing..

In 1978 Proposition 13 did something the California GOP never dreamed of.  A wave of brand new "Prop 13" babies were swept into the State Assembly.  Those new Republican legislators had Howard Jarvis and Paul Gann to thank, not the GOP.  Prop 13 was put on the ballot by an independent group.  Big Government Republican legislators had placed Prop 8 on the ballot to undercut the Jarvis tax revolt.

Fast forward to 2012, the GOP has done NOTHING to get hot button Propositions on the November ballot that might boost the campaigns of their candidates.  Instead countless millions have been wasted on getting propositions on ballots about redistricting.

Oil Industry Job and Taxes

One lone Republican has a partial vision (just a partial one).  He wants to save strapped California motorists money by freezing the sales tax on gasoline whenever the pump price jumps above $4 a gallon.
                                         .
The idea, said George Runner, a Republican member of the State Board of Equalization, is to put a few bucks back in consumers' pockets.
                               .
Non-Thinking Republicans  -  Runner threw this out in a near meaningless press release while the rest of his party sits around with their thumbs up their asses.
.
Because Republican leaders are brainless they do not take this to its logical conclusion.  Get that thought on the ballot in a Proposition that their candidates can campaign on.  Add to it a Proposition to allow oil drilling off the coast creating new jobs, wealth and tax income to the state treasury.
                                .
Instead Republicans cower under their desks in fear and apathy.
                   .
Gasoline prices in California averaged $4.33, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Runner said his proposal, expected to be introduced soon in the Legislature, would save consumers $1.4 billion a year if retail gas prices hit $5 a gallon.
.
"This should be a reasonable issue for us to talk about without being partisan," Runner said. (What the Hell is wrong about being partisan?) "We should try to figure out how to help motorists and taxpayers who are getting walloped at the pump."
                                                .
Sales tax revenue on gasoline for cities and counties rose 22.5% for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. And a change in the tax formula two years ago is ensuring that the state per-gallon gasoline excise tax revenue stays even with fuel-price inflation.
                                                                .
"We're not interested in undermining funding for local governments," said Robin Swanson, a spokeswoman for Assembly SpeakerJohn A. Perez (Socialist Democrat-Los Angeles).
.
California now has the second-highest level of gas taxes in the nation with an average of 67 cents a gallon, just below New York's 67.4 cents a gallon, according to the American Petroleum Institute.
                                        .
For every gallon of gasoline they buy, California motorists pay a federal excise tax of 18.4 cents and a state excise tax that is 35.7 cents now but fluctuates annually. The local sales taxes average 3.1% on the cost of gas and on the excise taxes, essentially a tax on taxes. That amounts to more than $10 in taxes for a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.
