SACRAMENTO (AP) — California on Thursday scheduled a Sept. 14 recall election that could drive Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom from office, the result of a political uprising largely driven by angst over state coronavirus orders that shuttered schools and businesses and upended life for millions of Californians.
The election in the nation’s most populous state will be a marquee contest with national implications, watched closely as a barometer of the public mood heading toward the 2022 elections, when a closely divided Congress again will be in play.
The date was set by Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, a Democrat, after election officials certified that enough valid petition signatures had been turned in to qualify the election for the ballot.
The announcement will set off a furious, 10-week burst of campaigning through the California summer, a time when voters typically are ignoring politics to enjoy vacationing, backyard barbecuing and travel.

"It was a splendid population - for all the slow, sleepy, sluggish-brained sloths stayed at home - you never find that sort of people among pioneers - you cannot build pioneers out of that sort of material. It was that population that gave to California a name for getting up astounding enterprises and rushing them through with a magnificent dash and daring and a recklessness of cost or consequences, which she bears unto this day - and when she projects a new surprise the grave world smiles as usual and says, "Well, that is California all over."

94% of California Locked Down
Marxist Democrats Demand You Live in Poverty
(Daily Mail) - On Monday Gov. Gavin Newsom announced California is hitting its 'emergency brake' and will shut down indoor activities for 94 percent of the state, as he apologized for attending a dinner party at a Michelin-starred restaurant earlier this month.
In a coronavirus press conference on Monday Newsom said the state's number of COVID-19 cases has doubled in the past week alone and 10,968 new cases were reported on Monday.
Newsom announced 41 of California’s 58 counties will move into the state’s most restrictive purple COVID-19 reopening risk tier starting Tuesday, up from 13 counties last week.
Under the purple tier indoor operations for museums, houses of worship, gyms and restaurants are not allowed. Bars that don’t provide food, concert venues, schools, and theme parks are also closed.
Counties going under the purple tier include Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Napa and Solano counties in the Bay Area as well as Los Angeles.

Gov. Newsom Declares Himself Dictator
California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statewide order for all of the state’s residents to “stay at home” during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We need to bend the curve in the state of California,” Newsom said in an announcement. “There’s a social contract here. People I think recognize the need to do more. They will adjust and adapt as they have.”
“Home isolation is not my preferred choice … but it is a necessary one,” Newsom added. “This is not a permanent state; it is a moment in time.”
In accordance with the new “stay at home” measure, dine-in restaurants, bars, clubs, gyms, and fitness studios will be closed.
Public events and gatherings of people are also not permitted.

Los Angeles - of, by and for the labor unions
![]() |
| Bought and paid for by labor unions The two Democrat finalists for the Los Angeles mayor's race, City Controller Wendy Greuel and Councilman Eric Garcetti, both are backed by labor union money. |
Corruption - Unions pour millions into Los Angeles races to buy protection from budget cuts
- Endless phony Federal printing press money given to cities and states allows insane spending on outrageous union contracts.
Mayoral hopeful Wendy Greuel won the support of yet another labor union Wednesday – just a day after securing a spot in the runoff against Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti.
“Wendy is the right candidate for the job in these challenging times,” said Bob Schoonover, president of Service Employees International Union, Local 721. The union represents more than 10,000 trash truck drivers, tree trimmers, sewer workers and other city employees. The union also represents 85,000 other government workers in Southern California.
"I really appreciate the support of SEIU,” Greuel said in a statement. “Today's endorsements, less than 24 hours after polls closed for the primary election, sends a tremendous message to working people all across Los Angeles.”
All three of the city’s biggest labor unions now support Greuel – the unions representing Department of Water and Power workers and LAPD officers spent nearly $3 million dollars on her behalf during the primary reports KKPC Public Radio.
Buying a City Council for Unions
- Labor unions recycle Democrat Sacramento political hacks to be their flunkies at city hall.
Organized labor succeeded in sending three of its chosen candidates to the Los Angeles City Council and reelecting a fourth in Tuesday's election, allowing unions to retain their firm hold on the lawmaking body.
Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield (Socialist Democrat - Woodland Hills) and former Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes won seats in the San Fernando Valley and Mike Bonin prevailed in the race to replace Councilman Bill Rosendahl on the Westside. Union groups, including the county Federation of Labor, provided financial support for all three — and for Councilman Paul Koretz, who was reelected to a second four-year term.

| Leftist Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield has been a paid off lackey for the unions in Sacramento and now in L.A. |
The council is going through its biggest transformation since 2001, with six incumbents stepping down June 30. The labor federation, which represents 600,000 workers, is playing an influential role in that process, helping three other candidates make a May 21 runoff in districts near downtown Los Angeles reports the Los Angeles Times.
In each of those contests, a longtime council aide will face off against a well-financed candidate backed by the federation.
Mitch O'Farrell, a longtime aide to Councilman Eric Garcetti, came in first in the race to represent an Echo Park-to-Hollywood district, even though he was outspent more than 4 to 1 by former city commissioner John Choi and his union backers. He and Choi will square off in a district that had been represented by Garcetti, now a candidate for mayor, for 12 years.
O'Farrell, who had so little money he did not conduct a single poll, said neighborhood issues, not special interests, won the day. Choi, who benefited from more than $209,000 in union support, said he was proud of the backing he had received amid a crowded 12-person race.
"I think [the runoff election] will be a different type of campaign where we're not just trying to make our voice heard," he said.
On the Eastside, Jose Gardea, chief of staff to Councilman Ed Reyes, appeared to be pushing former Assemblyman Gil Cedillo into a runoff. Tuesday's results showed Cedillo fell just below the 50% plus one vote needed to win outright. But with as many as 90,000 late absentee and provisional ballots still to be counted, Cedillo was not yet prepared to say there would be a runoff.

| Recycled political hack former Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes makes himself a union tool. Taxpayers have no meaning to him. |
Gardea, for his part, said he plans on a runoff campaign that shows the contrasts between himself and Cedillo, who served in both the state Assembly and State Senate over the last decade. "We're going to talk about … Sacramento values versus local values," he said.
In South Los Angeles, former council aide Ana Cubas will face off against state Sen. Curren Price (Socialist Democrat - Los Angeles), who benefited from $400,000 in unlimited "independent" expenditures by labor unions and others. Cubas, who would be the first Latino to represent the district in 50 years, said she is not worried about the money for Price, which came from such sources as the state's medical lobby and a union that represents prison guards.
"All of these Sacramento special interests that poured money into the race, they don't understand the needs of the city. They don't understand that people care about clean alleys, clean streets, stray dogs and helping with people's problems," she said.
Maria Elena Durazo, who heads the federation, did not respond to requests for an interview.
However, her group reported that it had organized 4,300 phone banking and precinct walking shifts and had conversations with nearly 67,000 voters over the course of the campaign. "Today's results show that the candidates who stand closest to working families are preferred by voters throughout the city," Durazo said in a statement.
Union officials are expected to play a key role over the next two years as city leaders negotiate new employee contracts. They are also expected to press for a living wage at hotels and new regulations on commercial trash companies that operate in the city.

Democracy is Dead - Thank the Republicans
The GOP Screws Themselves & the Voters
The so-called "small government" Republican Party stabs the voters in the back yet again.
- The GOP refused to back the part-time legislature constitutional amendment.
- The GOP somehow thinks it is good politics to protect the full time salaries of corrupt state legislators from both parties.
- The GOP opposed making legislators more accountable to the voters.
- And Republicans wonder why they are a minority party.
By Gary;
Republican State Assemblywoman Shannon Grove of Bakersfield stood all alone when she proposed a major reform returning the California legislature to part-time status. Her fellow Republicans who claim to favor "small government" ran for the hills . . . . as usual.
Now the amendment is dead.
Grove's petition drive had collected between 200,000 and 300,000 of the 807,615 voter signatures needed to qualify the constitutional amendment for a statewide ballot. The deadline for gathering the necessary signatures is July 2, but that would be too late to qualify for elections this year reports the Sacramento Bee.
.
The measure called for the Legislature of the People's Republic to meet three months per year, and for lawmakers' pay to be cut from $7,940 per month to $1,500 per month – or $18,000 annually.
The so-called "professional" full-time legislature has not only bankrupted the People's Republic, but acts a a breeding ground for full-time political hacks to live out a career on the public dime instead of having to work for a living.

- Texas. Legislators make $600 a month. The Legislature meets in regular session on the second Tuesday in January of each odd-numbered year. The Texas Constitution limits the regular session to 140 calendar days.
- New Hampshire. Legislators are paid $100 a year.
- Nebraska. Legislators are paid $12,000 a year. Sessions of the Nebraska Legislature last for 90 working days in odd-numbered years and 60 working days in even-numbered years.
- North Carolina. Legislators are paid $13,951. The General Assembly meets in regular session (or the "long session") beginning in January of each odd-numbered year, and adjourns to reconvene the following even-numbered year for what is called the "Short Session." The "long session" typically lasts for 6 months and the "short session" typically lasts for 6 weeks.

Freedom is gone in California
![]() |
| Freedom is almost gone in California |
Dictatorship is here - The Democrats and Republicans have nearly abolished all opposition parties in California
- In 2010 some 74 members of smaller opposition parties were on the general election ballot.
- In 2012 there may be ZERO on the general election ballot.
- Your write-in vote is now illegal.
In foreign nations when opposition political parties are banned from the ballot it is called Dictatorship. But in California it is called "reform."
The lairs, thieves and hacks in the state legislature pushed through Prop 14 banning political parties in a midnight backroom deal without one public hearing.
This is the lowest number of California minor party candidates for those offices since 1966, when there were no parties on the ballot in California except for the Democratic and Republican Parties, and thus no minor party candidates on the ballot reports Ballot Access News.
In 2010, there were 74 minor party candidates on the California ballot for U.S. House and legislature.
.
In the U.S. Senate race, it appears that one Peace & Freedom Party member, and one Libertarian, and two American Independent Party members, filed. In 2010, there were six minor party candidates for U.S. Senate on the primary ballot, and four in the general election. Also in November 2010, the Socialist Workers Party had a declared write-in U.S. Senate candidate. Even write-in candidates in the general election are now barred.
Your Freedom Taken Away - Proposition 14, passed by the voters in June 2010, is responsible for this drop in candidacies. Proposition 14 makes it virtually impossible for minor party members to participate in the general election, so many candidates decided not to file. Furthermore, the implementing legislation for Proposition 14, SB 6, severely increased the number of signatures needed for a petition in lieu of the filing fee.
California always has 100 regularly-scheduled legislative elections, every two years, and in the last ten years, has had 53 U.S. House seats up every two years.
It appears that for U.S. House and legislature combined, there are only six Greens, five Libertarians, four Peace & Freedom Party members, and no American Independent Party members running. It is unlikely that any member of Americans Elect filed, but this can’t be known for sure until the Secretary of State releases the list of candidates. (Ballot Access News)

Food Police crackdown on mobile food trucks
Leftist Moron wants to ban food trucks and carts from daring to come near schools and selling their horrible fatty food to the children
- Ban all food trucks and pushcarts from coming within 1,500 feet of schools.
- The law says pot stores need only be 600 feet from schools.
- "Think of the Children" - The new Big Brother battle cry.
- And the idiot voters keep re-electing these Socialist Democrat morons.
The Food Nazis have their knives out to crush small businessmen and tighten their Big Brother noose around the throats of the people.
.
A new law has been proposed here in the People's Republic of California to further crackdown on Freedom. Socialist Democrats Assemblyman William Monning of Carmel has introduced a bill to significantly limit where mobile lunch wagons can operate.
In this sick Leftist Fuck's wet-dream he wants to keep the lunch wagons even farther away from schools than marijuana dispensaries reports the Los Angeles Times.
This Big Brother bastard wants to ban all food trucks and pushcarts from within 1,500 feet of elementary, middle and high schools from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on school days. Pot stores need only be 600 feet from schools. Food truck operators say the restrictions would put large swaths of their market — as much as 80% of streets in some places — out of reach.
.
Kill Freedom before it can infect people - His legislation could put many of the mobile kitchens out of business just as the industry is surging with creativity.
.
Los Angeles County has about 2,650 trucks the Southern California Mobile Food Vendors Assn. No food trucks are licensed to operate in Monning's snooty posh hometown of Carmel-by-the-Sea, according to Mayor Sue McCloud.
