THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CALIFORNIA - This site is dedicated to exposing the continuing Marxist Revolution in California and the all around massive stupidity of Socialists, Luddites, Communists, Fellow Travelers and of Liberalism in all of its ugly forms.

"It was a splendid population - for all the slow, sleepy, sluggish-brained sloths stayed at home - you never find that sort of people among pioneers - you cannot build pioneers out of that sort of material. It was that population that gave to California a name for getting up astounding enterprises and rushing them through with a magnificent dash and daring and a recklessness of cost or consequences, which she bears unto this day - and when she projects a new surprise the grave world smiles as usual and says, "Well, that is California all over."

Newsom's Gestapo Raid Hair Salon For Daring To Open

Führer Newsom Barks:

"How dare you try to feed your children"

Bravely putting their lives on the line to protect the public from hair stylists serving customers, police in Stockton, CA, raided Pomp Salon just before Christmas and ordered the place to close, as it been operating in defiance of Governor Newsom’s shutdown orders.

“About five armed state police officers burst into our salon shouting drop everything you’re doing. Stop, you’re being shut down,” salon co-owner Vicki Kirk told ABC 10 news.

The police were following orders from the California Department of Consumer Affairs, which apparently has law enforcement powers, and issued three misdemeanor citations to the salon through its Investigate Division.

Kirk tells FOX 40 news that “it was like a drug raid”:

“They burst into our salon and they treated it like a drug raid,” Kirk told FOX40.

The officers from the enforcement division of the Department of Consumer Affairs tried to cool tempers as shouting and expletives occurred.

The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology issued a statement that said violations of the emergency order could involve the removal of licenses from barbershops and salons.

“The Board strongly encourages licensees, as well as the public, to comply with the applicable Regional Stay-at-Home orders to slow the spread of COVID-19,” the statement read, in part.

But the owners of Pomp said salons are not spreading the virus and cited contact tracing numbers showing infection more much more likely to spread in businesses that are allowed to remain open.

“If there were any evidence that we should close, we would close, absolutely. There is virtually zero evidence to support the closure of our industry,” Ballin claimed.

“I just want to earn a living and we all want to do it safely,” Kirk said. “We have strict safety protocols here, and we will continue to do so.”

The couple said they believed they were singled out because they are outspoken critics of how lockdown rules are applied, citing health protocol violations by the governor and other officials.

The salon is thankful for the outpouring of support:

The San Joaquin County District Attorneys office has announced that they were not involved in this raid and will not proceed with charges against the salon, as these were state actors and not county or city officers.

Stockton has one of the highest rates of crime in the nation, and the city of just over 300,000 recently logged its 53rd shooting for the year. Nice to see the police focusing on the real crimes of salons opening.

Stockton to pay men not to shoot each other?

(KCRA)  -  Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs condemned the violence in the city over the weekend and is considering a couple different ways to combat crime, including one that pays people not to commit crimes.

There were four homicides in Stockton between Monday and Wednesday night, bringing the total number of killings in the city to more than 24.

Tubbs released a statement Wednesday night after the string of violence.

"All life is sacred and even one homicide is too many ... overall, crime continues to trend downward but we must remain vigilant," Tubbs said.

The city is exploring a couple options in the hopes of curbing the number of violent crimes in the city.

The first option is out of Detroit called Project Greenlight. In this situation, live cameras would be set up inside and outside of businesses in Stockton, and the cameras would be monitored in real-time from the police headquarters.

The second option is more controversial out of the Bay Area. Richmond's Advance Peace uses taxpayer dollars to pay men with firearm history to not shoot guns.

In exchange, the men can participate in adult fellowship, mentorships and job opportunity programs.

POLICE STATE - Homeland Security seized Stockton Mayor's electronics at airport

Airport security in America

4th Amendment Be Damned
  • In violation of the Bill of Rights the Feds seized the electronics of the Mayor of Stockton, California without a warrant.

(Infowars News)  -  Anthony Silva, the mayor of Stockton, California, recently went to China for a mayor’s conference. On his return to San Francisco airport he was detained by Homeland Security, and then had his two laptops and his mobile phone confiscated.
They refused to show him any sort of warrant (of course) and then refused to let him leave until he agreed to hand over his password:
“A few minutes later, DHS agents confiscated all my electronic devices including my personal cell phone. Unfortunately, they were not willing or able to produce a search warrant or any court documents suggesting they had a legal right to take my property. In addition, they were persistent about requiring my passwords for all devices,” Silva said.
Silva was not allowed to leave the airport until he gave his passwords to the agents, which the mayor’s personal attorney, Mark Reichel, claimed is illegal.
The mayor said the agents told him confiscating property from travelers at the airport was “in fact routine and not unusual,” and promised to return the items within a few days.
To some extent what the DHS told him is true. It’s not that unusual, but it’s not that common either. But forcing him to turn over the passwords is unusual, and not standard practice. Besides, courts have been growing increasingly less impressed with Homeland Security’s willingness to ignore the Constitution at the border.
The feds, of course, refuse to say anything, saying they cannot confirm or deny anything. Silva first claimed that he’s “happy to cooperate and comply with these inspection procedures if they are in fact routine and legal,” but pretty quickly notes how ridiculous all of this is:
“I think the American people should be extremely concerned about their personal rights and privacy,” he said. “As I was being searched at the airport, there was a Latino couple to my left, and an Asian couple to my right also being aggressively searched. I briefly had to remind myself that this was not North Korea or Nazi Germany. This is the land of the Free.”
So they keep telling us.

Ricky Gill for Congress

Indian-American GOP candidate Ricky Gill.

A Hot Swing Seat  -  An up and coming Republican vs a Democrat Carpetbagger who just moved into the district
  • One of four targeted seats in California.
  • The Democrat has never lived in the district he wants to represent.

There will be a showdown in the Stockton centered 9th Congressional District seat between incumbent Democrat Jerry McNerney and Republican Ricky Gill, a 25-year-old political newcomer, this November.

In the primary McNerney led with 35,088 votes, or 48.4 percent. Gill had 28,652 votes, or 39.5 percent. John McDonald, also a Republican, came in third with 8,792 votes, or 12.1 percent.

McNerney, 60, is running on his record during his third two-year term in Congress. He touted being a moderate Democrat despite Republican leaders saying he is a tax-and-spend liberal.

McNerney has also had a high profile in issues like veterans’ affairs, maintaining the Delta and strongly opposing the proposed Peripheral Canal that would transport Northern California water to Southern California and southern San Joaquin Valley.

He carpetbagged and moved into the district from Pleasanton to Stockton on May 1, since the new 9th Congressional District is centered in San Joaquin County.

Ricky Gill -- "New Direction"

Gill, who turned 25 in May, based his campaign on being born and raised in Lodi and being better aware of San Joaquin County issues that his two opponents.

Gill also called criticized McNerney for being out of touch with San Joaquin County residents due to his East Bay roots, and said McNerney is not a moderate Democrat as he claims.

The California Farm Bureau Federation has endorsed Ricky Gill, a family farmer, running against Carpetbagger Congressman Jerry McNerney.

Stockton goes bankrupt - Welcome to Greece West

BANKRUPT  -  Public employee unions in the People's Republic are trying to make municipal bankruptcy almost impossible
  • With a flood of corrupt union campaign money, it is government of, by and for labor unions.
  • Corrupt businessmen join in on the fun.  They have raked in millions in city building contracts.
  • Everyone was looting the Treasury and the taxpayers are left holding the bag.

Greece USA  -  American politicians at every level can't stop spending other people's money to buy votes for the next election.  Free pretend Monopoly money for everyone!

Back in the mid-2000s, the city of Stockton, California was hopping. The housing market was strong, and as a result tax revenues were flowing in. The city took out $190 million in bonds and loans to pay for a bunch of civic projects including a new city hall, a new multipurpose arena, and a baseball park.

But then the recession came, the housing bubble burst and, observers say, Stockton was hit even harder than most other California cities by the economic downturn. The city now has an unemployment rate of nearly 20 percent, and the foreclosure rate is one of the highest in the nation. It was ranked by Forbes magazine as America’s “Worst Place to Live” two of the last three years reports the Daily Beast.

Stockton had become a bedroom community for commuters to San Francisco and Oakland, and that drove overbuilding. When the economy imploded, commuters started disappearing, and the city saw a flight of home buyers. Property values in Stockton then plummeted, perhaps more than anywhere else in the state and nation, and the city could no longer sustain itself or pay the generous pensions to city workers.”

The city already has slashed the police force by one fourth and the fire department by one third, and cut 40 percent of other city employees, along with wages and medical benefits. Kathy Miller, a member of Stockton’s city council and its vice mayor, tells The Daily Beast that the city had no choice.

Miller says the problems in Stockton began with a series of decisions made in the 1990s based on the fact that, at the time, the city was doing well.

“It all started with the state, which in the early ’90s changed the formulas in Calpers (California’s public employee retirement system),” says Miller. “The state legislature decided that public employees could retire earlier and with higher pensions, and they gave huge benefits to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).”

After that, Miller says, the city couldn’t find any qualified police to hire because they all wanted to go to CHP. “So we decided to offer the same benefits that the state had given to CHP retirees,” she says. “That benefit was eventually granted to firefighters as well, and then every bargaining unit asked the city for more. This same type of thing happened in San Diego, San Jose, and cities all over the state.”

“There are at least 10 other cities in this state that are half a step behind Stockton. They’re all watching us very carefully.”

Miller says the city council responded as quickly as possible when the economy went south, “but with public employees, we were locked into labor agreements. We worked very hard in 2010, but some of the representatives (of the public employee unions) refused to negotiate, and some even demanded huge raises in salaries and benefits. That same year, we declared our first fiscal emergency.”
.

The clincher, Miller suggests, is when the city agreed in the 1990s to grant a lifetime retirement medical benefit to all city employees: “This benefit provided retired employees and one dependent with medical coverage with no premium, no co-pay, and no deductible. The worst part of whole thing is that the city didn’t set aside the money to fund the medical benefit.”

Miller says the council made the decision this week to eliminate the medical benefit which “is a luxurious benefit that a small group receives and which less than half of the cities in California provide. Nobody is being kicked off the city medical plan, but they will have to start paying for it. Taxpayers who live here will never have that benefit, but they are paying for it.”
.

The city of Stockton invested heavily in subsidizing waterfront development. This week, it approaches bankruptcy.
