THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CALIFORNIA - This site is dedicated to exposing the continuing Marxist Revolution in California and the all around massive stupidity of Socialists, Luddites, Communists, Fellow Travelers and of Liberalism in all of its ugly forms.

"It was a splendid population - for all the slow, sleepy, sluggish-brained sloths stayed at home - you never find that sort of people among pioneers - you cannot build pioneers out of that sort of material. It was that population that gave to California a name for getting up astounding enterprises and rushing them through with a magnificent dash and daring and a recklessness of cost or consequences, which she bears unto this day - and when she projects a new surprise the grave world smiles as usual and says, "Well, that is California all over."

Democrats could seize kids from parents for not "respecting" pronouns

Under California’s Assembly Bill 957 by Assemblywoman Lori Wilson (D-Suisun City), a parent could lose custody for not “affirming” or agreeing to a child’s claims about gender identity.

The bill, co-authored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), would require judges adjudicating such disputes over transgender-identifying children to favor the parent who “affirms” the child’s preferred identity, the Free Beacon reported.

Apparently Senator Wiener is not satisfied eroding parental rights with his bill to allow children as young as age 12 to take the COVID-19 vaccine without parental consent. Or his bill relaxing the penalties for having “non-forcible sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration with a minor.” Or his bill to remove the felony penalty for knowingly exposing another person to HIV.

John Sutter statue removed in Sacramento

Leftists Abolish California History
The article does not even get history correct
  • Sutter became a citizen of Mexico.  He did not "lay claim" to land. He was given a land grant from the government of Mexico.

(AP)  -  A statue honoring a colonizer who laid claim to the land where the discovery of shiny flakes of gold sparked the California Gold Rush was removed Monday outside a hospital bearing his name in the state capital.

Several dozen people cheered as a work crew lifted the statue of John Sutter — a 19th century European colonizer of California who enslaved Native Americans — off its pedestal outside Sutter Medical Center in the latest reckoning of historical figures being removed from public display.

Across the U.S. and Europe, statues of Confederate officers and colonial figures are being toppled, sometimes forcibly by protesters, as the uproar over racism spreads after the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

“OK, he’s Sutter, but he’s a real son of a b——,” said Frank Condon, a playwright who was walking to a doctor’s appointment. He had marveled hours earlier that it was still standing and wondered why it hadn't been taken down.

Sutter, a European immigrant who had built a fort in Sacramento in the mid-1800s, had laid claim to land on the American River in Coloma about 35 miles (56 kilometers) away in the Sierra foothills. James Marshall, a carpenter, was building a mill there for Sutter when he discovered gold in 1848.

The two tried to keep it a secret, but word got out and men flocked to the foothills in search of their fortune.

In addition to the replica fort in downtown Sacramento that still bears his name across from the hospital, there is a county and several schools and streets named for Sutter across California.
“Out of respect for some community members’ viewpoints, and in the interest of public safety for our patients and staff, we are removing the John Sutter statue that was originally donated to Sutter General Hospital,” a Sutter Health spokesman said in a statement.
Sutter Health did not say whether it was considering removing Sutter’s name from the nonprofit hospital system.

Felons are now “justice-involved persons” in San Francisco

I'm not a convicted felon
I'm a "justice-involved person"

(Fox News)  -  Crime-ridden San Francisco has introduced new sanitized language for criminals, getting rid of words such as “offender” and “addict” while changing “convicted felon” to “justice-involved person.”

The Board of Supervisors adopted the changes last month even as the city reels from one of the highest crime rates in the country and staggering inequality exemplified by pervasive homelessness alongside Silicon Valley wealth.

The local officials say the new language will help change people’s views about those who commit crimes.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, from now on a convicted felon or an offender released from custody will be known as a “formerly incarcerated person,” or a “justice-involved” person or just a “returning resident.”

A juvenile “delinquent” will now be called a “young person with justice system involvement,” or a “young person impacted by the juvenile justice system.”

And drug addicts or substance abusers, meanwhile, will become “a person with a history of substance use.”

“We don’t want people to be forever labeled for the worst things that they have done,” Supervisor Matt Haney told the newspaper. “We want them ultimately to become contributing citizens, and referring to them as felons is like a scarlet letter that they can never get away from.”

The sanitized language, though unlikely to do much to address the crime problem, may result in some convoluted descriptions of crimes in the future.

The newspaper noted an individual whose car has been broken into could well be known to police as “a person who has come in contact with a returning resident who was involved with the justice system and who is currently under supervision with a history of substance use.”

Calif. math prof applicants better have 'diversity contributions' on their resumes

Talent Mean Nothing. Towing The Leftist Line Means Everything

  • Leftist loons at government run universities could care less if you are an expert in a field. All that matters is that when they snap their fingers you do the Politically Correct Dance.

Applicants looking to teach mathematics at the University of California campuses are evaluated based on their past contributions to “diversity.”

According to the current job postings for these positions, applications must include a “diversity statement” detailing the applicants’ “past and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Several listings for tenure-track or tenured mathematics professor positions at University of California campuses included the stipulation, including listings for positions at UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine.

The University of California San Diego offers applicants a detailed explanation of how to construct such a statement, noting that the document should be one to two pages, and encouraging applicants “to provide specific information on the motivation, duration, and impact of their outreach and mentoring activities.”

“The purpose of the statement is to identify candidates who have the professional skills, experience, and/or willingness to engage in activities that will advance our campus equity, diversity and inclusion goals,” the university explains.

A detailed explanation of the evaluation process for these statements is also available from UCSD.  This document notes the purpose of the diversity statement as a method of evaluating a candidate’s “awareness of the barriers that exist for groups historically under-represented in math and science, “past efforts in diversity and outreach activities; and “future plans for diversity and outreach activities.”

The university notes that of these considerations, “past efforts are given far greater weight than merely showing awareness of barriers or stating future plans.”

Insane Democrats Go Bonkers Over Transgenders

The Insanity of Democrats

  • California dams, freeways, streets, sewers and schools are falling apart, but insane Democrats are only worried that men with a penis are not allowed to pee in the girl's bathroom.
  • What is worse is the Leftist Loon women of California eagerly demand that men be allowed into girl's locker rooms and school bathrooms.

(Los Angeles Times)  -  With news that the Trump administration is rolling back former President Obama's guidance on protecting transgender students, State Supt. of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson is reminding California students of their rights .

"California students will continue to have their civil rights protected," he said in a statement Wednesday. "California will continue to work to provide that environment for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students regardless of any misguided directives by the federal government and the Trump administration."

Gavin Newson - Anti Semitic Gay Hater

Scumbag Gavin Newson Defends
Political Terrorism

  • Playing the typical Democrat Race Card we see idiot Gavin Newsom viciously attack a helpless Jewish Gay Conservative who is the victim of Democratic Party Terrorism to shut down freedom of speech.
  • Newsom should get on his knees and beg Milo Yiannopoulos for forgiveness.

(Breitbart California)  -  The Lt. Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has released a statement offering lukewarm condemnation of the riots that prevented MILO’s final event of the “Dangerous Faggot Tour,” whilst smearing him as a “white supremacist.”

Newsom, who has launched a campaign for Governor of California in 2018, said in a statement that people experienced “both extremes at UC Berkeley’s campus last night, from the racism and misogyny of fly-by-night provocateur and white supremacist Milo Yiannopoulos, to the excessive response of a few protestors.”

The event was cancelled after left-wing rioters, who the university claim were not students, smashed ATMs and bank windows, looted a Starbucks, beat Trump supporters, pepper sprayed innocent individuals, set fires in the street, and sprayed the words “Kill Trump” on storefronts.

He then went on to attack President Donald Trump, who yesterday condemned the protests whilst threatening to cut university’s $350 million of federal funding, over half its budget.

“President Trump’s asinine threat to pull funding from Cal showed zero awareness of the real-world implications of a President’s words and actions. Stripping federal funds from UC would only create more innocent victims and more Trump carnage,” he said.

“President Trump is quick to attack American students, immigrants, women, the LGBT community, journalists, and our international allies but he is either too weak or too ignorant to stand up to white supremacists and others who spew hatred. That’s why the President and his extremist acolytes like Yiannopoulos need to hear from the resistance, loudly and repeatedly. We must continue to step in and stand up to resist reckless rhetoric and actions in a peaceful and forceful manner,” he continued.

Yesterday, on FOX News with Tucker Carlson, MILO pointed to leftists like Newsom as having “created an environment where it’s okay to say anything about the right,” (such as describing them as a white nationalist or supremacist,) as a means of “legitimizing the violence” of the left.”

Mexicans need not apply for Black only dorms

The Rise of Black Racism

  • Martin Luther King is turning over in his grave as Blacks now want the right to racially discriminate against Asians, Hispanics and Whites.

(The College Fix)  -  California State University Los Angeles recently rolled out segregated housing for black students.
The arrangement comes roughly nine months after the university’s Black Student Union issued a set of demands in response to what its members contend are frequent “racist attacks” on campus, such as “racially insensitive remarks” and “microaggressions” by professors and students. One demand was for a “CSLA housing space delegated for Black students.”
“[It] would provide a cheaper alternative housing solution for Black students. This space would also serve as a safe space for Black CSLA students to congregate, connect, and learn from each other,” the demand letter stated.

The newly debuted Halisi Scholars Black Living-Learning Community “focuses on academic excellence and learning experiences that are inclusive and non-discriminatory,” Cal State LA spokesman Robert Lopez told The College Fix via email.
The public university has 192 furnished apartments in a residential complex on campus, and the Halisi community will be located there, Lopez said, adding it joins other themed living-learning communities already housed there.
Lopez declined to answer any additional questions or provide more details on the new community, such as how many rooms it encompasses, and whether it’s a whole floor or just a few rooms.
Cal State LA joins UConn, UC Davis and Berkeley in offering segregated housing dedicated to black students. While these housing options are technically open to all students, they’re billed and used as arrangements in which black students can live with one another.

University of California pulls $30 million from prisons in orgy of political correctness

Idiots on Parade

  • Statistics show that most crime is Black-on-Black. But somehow it is "racist" to put Black people in jail for committing crimes against Black people.

(Reuters)  -  The University of California system said on Friday it will drop its roughly $30 million worth of investments in private prison companies following demands from a black student group.
The decision comes amid a wave of student protests against racism at college campuses across the country as well as the Black Lives Matter civil rights movement against the U.S. criminal justice system, which disproportionately impacts black people.
The UC system's chief investment officer, Jagdeep Singh Bachher, made the decision after meeting with students of the Afrikan Black Coalition, university spokeswoman Dianne Klein said.
Klein said the UC system has a policy against "blanket divestment," but made the decision after further review.
"This made sense given our conclusion that, based on risk over the next several years, these holdings were not a good investment for a long-term investor such as UC," Klein said.
Klein said the amount invested was less than $30 million, a tiny fraction of the UC system's $100 billion investment portfolio. Klein said she did not know exactly which private prison companies the system held shares in or exactly how much money was invested.
The coalition, a California-wide student group, said the UC system had $25 million invested in Corrections Corporation of America and The Geo Group.

Calif. Indian Tribe Backs School's ‘Redskins’ Mascot

More Phony, Made-up, "Racism"
  • The Leftist Democrats in the legislature will never rest until all the joy is sucked out of life and students are forced to memorize politically correct slogans.

(Breitbart News)  -  An Indian tribe in California supports a local school’s use of the “Redskins” mascot that California legislators want to ban.

The Tule River Tribal Council, located in the heart of California’s Central Valley, wrote a letter to California Gov. Jerry Brown urging him to allow Tulare Union High School to continue using the “Redskins” mascot.
Brown is considering signing a new bill, AB 30, the California Racial Mascots Act, which was recently passed by the state legislature in the wake of media debate surrounding the name of the Washington Redskins NFL football team.
The tribe’s letter to the governor argues that while “the history surrounding the name ‘Redskin’ is negative…it is time to mend these feelings and move on.” The tribal council supports the school’s use of the mascot to express “tremendous pride and honor” felt by “students and alumni.” The letter adds: “Although we will never forget what has happened to us in the past, we do not wish to dwell on it either.”
The school district has also written to the governor to oppose the bill. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a similar bill in 2004.

Kamala Harris plays the race card

Attorney General Kamala Harris, righ, joined by
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck

"You are all Racists!"

  • The election for California U.S. Senator is coming and Democrat Kamala Harris whips out the Race Card implying that racism causes Blacks to be arrested more than whites.
  • It appears Harris wants affirmative action on crime.  If the "quota" for arresting Blacks has been filled then I guess the police should stop arresting Blacks for the rest of the year so the percentages even out.

(Associated Press)  —  Just 6 percent of Californians are African American, yet they are involved in 17 percent of all arrests in the state and a quarter of in-custody deaths, according to what officials called a nationally unprecedented release of data Wednesday.
The data paints a clearer picture of the racial disparity in arrests and deaths across California and comes as a number of high-profile, police-involved deaths of young black men has ignited a national debate on police practices.
In addition to being arrested and dying in disproportionate numbers, black juvenile males who are arrested are booked into jail at a 25 percent higher rate than whites, according to the data, released by the California Department of Justice on a searchable, state-run website.
"It's very stark and we really have to have a dialogue about why so many African Americans are dying compared to the state population," said Justin Erlich, a special assistant attorney general who's overseeing the data collection and analysis.
Democrat California Attorney General Kamala Harris cited the deaths of young black men at the hands of police in California, Ferguson, Missouri, New York City, Texas and South Carolina.
Part of the conversation surrounding those deaths needs to be data, Harris said.
"What are the numbers?" she said. "What are the facts that we know that we can actually quantify, that can help influence public policy around how we can improve these numbers and improve the situation?"
The database is the culmination of months of work aimed at improving transparency and government accountability. More data will be released over time, including breakdowns by municipality.
The data released also includes the number of police officers who died in the line of duty: 345 between 1980 and 2014, or 10 annually. Of those, 187 were a direct result of a criminal act, while the rest were considered accidental.

Jerry Brown Signs Bills Removing "Alien" From Labor Law

I'm not an "Alien"
I'm a "Foreign National"

(International Business Times)  -  California Gov. Jerry Brown signed several bills Monday changing immigration policy in the state. One of the three bills Brown signed removed the word "alien" from the state's labor code, an attempt to remove what some view as an offensive descriptor for people who aren't fully naturalized citizens.
Aside from the "alien" bill, Brown signed legislation that allows high school students who are legal permanent residents to sign up to work at polling sites to help Spanish speaking voters on election days. Brown also signed a bill that bans the consideration of a child's immigration status during civil liability cases.
"Alien is now commonly considered a derogatory term for a foreign-born person and has very negative connotations,” state Sen. Tony Mendoza, the Democrat who sponsored the bill, told the Los Angeles Times. “The word 'alien,' and any law prescribing an order for the issuance of employment to 'aliens,' has no place in the laws of our state and more importantly, should never be the basis for any employment hiring.”
The bills are the latest in a push for expanded immigration rights in the state. Those efforts have been gaining steam, including a push to bypass federal law and give work permits to undocumented immigrants to work on farms, expand health care coverage for undocumented children in the state and give residency permits to undocumented immigrants in California.
